Art for Wellness
Art is useful at all ages for supporting mental health care in a variety of ways.
Focusing on art allows a person’s mind to relax and let go of all the problems and demands that lead to stress. Art has been proven to lower cortisol levels and to promote mindfulness—the awareness of your thoughts and feelings and the thoughts and feelings of others. By seeking out and engaging in creative activities, you can positively boost your mental health.
Using sculpture, painting, drawing, or collage, Jenny works in tandem with a licensed mental health therapist to provide you a sense of safety, peace, and growth while you explore your creative side.
Sample projects can include:

Mandala
The process of creating a mandala provides a nurturing feeling of wholeness, a sense of belonging, and time for self reflection with the universe. You can release emotions, focus your mind, and connect to your inner self and your place in the universe. Universally recognised as the ultimate in calming activities, we use markers, paint, pens, and more to enjoy the calming process and produce an art piece you can keep with you to remind you of inner peace.

Peaceful Landscape
By using watercolor, a relaxing and meditative activity, we will paint a scene that is beautiful, peaceful, and unique to you. The process of painting with watercolor allows you to center yourself and pay more attention to what is happening in the moment. The connection you feel to nature and watching the paint flow on your paper helps you to feel calm, reduces stress, increases enjoyment, and taps into feelings of joy.

Weaving
The connection between hand and brain, concentration, and joy from seeing a final project helps reduce stress and anxiety. The gentle and repetitive process of weaving can make you centered, focused, calm, and happier. It can boost confidence and even distract from physical and mental pain.
